On the Orihuela Costa

This coastal area is called Orihuela Costa and is a part of the municipality of Orihuela. The coastline of Orihuela Costa stretches for a length of 16 km and borders the Spanish port of Torrevieja in the north and the autonomous region of Murcia in the south. There are 57 urbanisations, 4 golf courses and 2 marinas on the Orihuela Costa. Orihuela Costa is internationally known for its playas with beautiful white sandy beaches and clear water, creeks (calas), which are interspersed by high steep cliffs (acantilados). Several beaches in Orihuela Costa have been awarded the Blue Flag.
In La Mata
The kilometers of sandy beaches of the Costa Blanca south are known as the longest and widest in Spain. The Costa Blanca south is flat on the coast and that makes it very suitable for cycling routes and walks through and around the nature park of La Mata with beautiful views over the lake, the vineyards and the protected nature. Of course, walking through the unique and protected dune area and over the beach from La Mata to Guardamar del Segura is also an option. Along the way you can join a cozy terrace at one of the Cabanas on the beach, eat tapas and / or enjoy a glass of Sangria and then walk back to La Mata. The beaches here still exude calm and space and there are sufficient facilities for a wonderful day of beach life.
In Torrevieja you can not only enjoy the beautiful beaches and boulevard, but there are also two salt lakes. These areas are free to visit and you can relax. Lubricate yourself with mud and let it dry properly. After the mud has dried up, take a dip in the salt lake. This has a good effect on the skin and also gives a relaxing feeling. The salt lakes can be found at Salinas de Torrevieja. The lakes are particularly popular with people with heart problems, rheumatism, arthritis or asthmatic diseases where it is said that the healing powers of the salt lakes provide relief, in combination with the warm climate and clean air.
