Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca.
Torrevieja or in the Valencian Torrevella, is a seaside resort located on the Mediterranean Sea, 41 km south of Alicante in Spain. The municipality is 71 km2 in size, has about 20 km of coastline and has over 110,000 inhabitants. Tourism is the main source of income, because in the summer the total population can reach up to 200,000. In the past, however, the salt production from salt lakes, the Salinas of Torrevieja and La Mata was the main source of income. The salt production is still of a decent size.
In Torrevieja you can not only enjoy the beautiful beaches and boulevard, but there are also two salt lakes. These areas are free to visit and you can relax. Lubricate yourself with mud and let it dry properly. After the mud has dried up, take a dip in the salt lake. This has a good effect on the skin and also gives a relaxing feeling. The salt lakes can be found at Salinas de Torrevieja. The lakes are particularly popular with people with heart problems, rheumatism, arthritis or asthmatic diseases where it is said that the healing powers of the salt lakes provide relief, in combination with the warm climate and clean air.
Torrevieja, located on the sea with its many beaches is a typical Spanish seaside resort, has a 3 km long seaside promenade, full of terraces, shops and restaurants, cosiness and atmosphere. The port is located at the bustling center. Boats leave from here to the island of Tabarca. Various water sports are also possible. One of the largest weekly markets of the Costa Blanca is in Torrevieja and on every Friday. For the golf enthusiast, the Las Ramblas, Villamartin, Las Colinas, Campoamor and La Finca golf courses are within a 15-minute drive. The Aquapolis water park is open from mid-June to mid-September and features a wide variety of slides and swimming pools. For the fish lover, fishing is practiced almost everywhere along the coast.
