San Miguel de Salinas is a municipality in the Spanish province of Alicante in the Valencia region, with an area of 55 km². In 2017, San Miguel de Salinas had over 8,000 inhabitants. It is located on the edge of the Vega Baja and in the south of the Costa Blanca, just 7 kilometers from Torrevieja. As the highest village in the area, San Miguel offers beautiful views over the Vega Baja, Torrevieja with its pink salt lake, and the sea. It is a small and friendly village but covers a total area of about 54 km², extending from the inland mountainous landscape to the plain known as ‘El Llano,’ where the salt lakes, the Salinas, are located. The extensive market is held on Wednesday, where you can buy your daily fresh products.

Local roads connect the village with Orihuela, Bigastro, Torrevieja, and the Orihuela Costa, as well as other nearby towns. The adjacent towns and cities are Almoradí, Orihuela, Torrevieja, Pilar de la Horadada, and Los Montesinos. The sandy beaches of the Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja are just 8 kilometers away. Various lively centers are only a few minutes away by car, including the large commercial center La Zenia Boulevard. The La Pedrera Reservoir is located a few kilometers from San Miguel de Salinas and supplies a large part of the Vega Baja with water and irrigation water for farmers. The higher-altitude reservoir, adjacent to the village of Torremendo, is a beautiful protected hilly nature area with many almond trees, pine forests, and the hamlet of Rebate with the eponymous Spanish family restaurant. There are also opportunities for walking, cycling, horseback riding, and quad biking, or simply enjoying the nature. You can drive all the way around it, which takes about half an hour by car. The water is always beautifully blue-turquoise due to the crystals present in the water, and in the evening, you can enjoy many birds and a beautiful sunset.
