La Zenia
La Zenia on the Orihuela Costa
La Zenia is the name of an urbanization and sandy beach in the district of Orihuela Costa within the municipality of Orihuela, on the Costa Blanca, in the province of Alicante in the Spanish autonomous region of Valencia. The district is located about 8 km south of the port city of Torrevieja on the Spanish east coast. In 2017, the neighborhood had more than 2,500 inhabitants. The municipality is divided into two sections, namely La Zenia I and II. La Zenia borders the urbanizations of Playa Flamenca to the north, Montezenia to the west, and Cabo Roig, Las Amapolas IV, and San Jose IV to the south.
The white sandy beach of the same name is part of a series of six beaches in the district of Orihuela Costa and borders Playa Flamenca beach to the north and Cabo Roig beach to the south. The beach is 350 meters long and 60 meters wide. Furthermore, the beach features boardwalks to the sea, a beach bar, a first aid post, and special access for the disabled. The beach is surrounded by numerous restaurants and hotels.
In this area, you will find the beaches of Cabo Roig, La Zenia, La Glea, Aqua Marina, Mill Palmeras, Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, and Campoamor. This coastal region has very beautiful sandy beaches with crystal-clear water, interspersed with rocky areas and many small coves, making this area one of the most beautiful regions on the Costa Blanca. The perfect location and pleasant climate, with more than 300 sunny days per year, ensure that the beaches, coves, and marinas are reasonably busy all year round. Playa La Zenia is within walking distance of Oasis Beach and is one of Orihuela’s most visited beaches, situated between Playa Flamenca and Cabo Roig. The beach is 350 meters long and, due to its location, facilities, and maintenance, it certainly deserves a Blue Flag. From here, you can also enjoy endless walks along the beautiful coastline, which is a stunning sight in itself. The beach offers special access for the disabled, as well as public toilets and showers, a first aid post, public telephones, parking spaces, taxi stops, and bus stops, play areas, jet skis, and hospitality services.
The N-332 highway runs parallel to the Spanish east coast and crosses La Zenia. On the northwest side lies the AP-7 highway. The on-ramp from La Zenia via the AP-7 highway towards Murcia is unique in that it bypasses the only toll booth on the AP-7, making this section of the AP-7 toll-free, while the AP-7 in this area is otherwise predominantly a toll road.
