Algorfa on the Costa Blanca

Algorfa is a municipality in the Spanish province of Alicante in the Valencia region with an area of 18 km² and has over 4,000 inhabitants. Algorfa is a very charming village, located rurally near the small river El Segura and surrounded by orange fields, lemon fields, and olive trees. The authentic village square near the church features cozy terraces, bars, and restaurants. In the center, there are also a number of typical Spanish shops such as a bakery, butcher, poultry shop, and small supermarkets.

The Montemar Castle and the neo-Gothic church are located just outside the center. The municipality is not directly on the coast but 10 kilometers inland, where the traditional and relaxed Spanish lifestyle is still clearly present. Algorfa is not very touristy, but the beaches of Guardamar, La Marina, and Torrevieja with plenty of entertainment are less than 12 kilometers away. The lively market of Algorfa is on Wednesday, where you can purchase all your fresh products and clothing at very reasonable prices.

A few kilometers from the village lies the impressive La Finca golf course with a 5-star hotel and a spa. The golf courses are surrounded by beautiful homes and beautifully landscaped gardens, set in the middle of nature. Ten kilometers away is the La Pedrera Reservoir, which supplies a large part of the Vega Baja with water and irrigation water for the farmers. The higher-altitude reservoir, adjacent to the village of Torremendo, is a beautiful protected hilly nature area with many almond trees, pine forests, and the hamlet of Rebate with the eponymous Spanish family restaurant. There are also opportunities for walking, cycling, horseback riding, and quad biking, but also simply going to enjoy the nature. You can drive all the way around it, which takes about half an hour by car. The water is always beautifully blue-turquoise due to the crystals present in the water, and in the evening, you can enjoy the many birds and a beautiful sunset.

In short, with more than 300 days of sunshine per year, a beautiful environment with citrus plantations and olive trees, the Rio Segura, the typical Spanish life, and countless walking and cycling opportunities, Algorfa is the place to unwind and enjoy life, the sun, and nature. The hustle and bustle, lively beaches, and nightlife can be reached within a quarter of an hour. The Alicante airport is 55 kilometers away.
