Orihuela Costa
**Orihuela Costa**

This coastal area is part of the municipality of Orihuela and extends along the Costa Blanca. The coastline of Orihuela Costa stretches over 16 km and borders the port city of Torrevieja to the north and the autonomous region of Murcia to the south. Orihuela Costa consists of 57 urbanizations, 4 golf courses, and 2 marinas. Several beaches in Orihuela Costa have been awarded the Blue Flag.
**Beaches and Facilities**
Orihuela Costa boasts stunning white sandy beaches with clear water. Many of these beaches have received the prestigious Blue Flag due to their facilities, including boardwalks on some beaches, lifeguard towers, first aid posts, and showers. The beaches are interspersed with coves (calas) and high steep cliffs (acantilados).
**Living Environment**
Due to the absence of heavy industry and the presence of large salinas (salt lakes) in the area, the air in the region is known to be very clean. This attracts elderly and chronically ill people, as the relatively high concentrations of iodine in the air from the salinas are said to promote health. Many clinics for cardiovascular diseases, rheumatism, and skin conditions are located in the area.
**Golf Courses**
Among the urbanizations of Orihuela Costa, there are four 18-hole golf courses with a total of 72 holes and an area of 1,700,000 m². These internationally recognized golf courses regularly host major European golf tournaments. The four golf courses are:
