Jacarilla has a history dating back to the sixth century BC, when the Iberian peninsula at the site of the present Jacarilla companies were established. The name Jacarilla owes its origin in medieval songs about the exploits of knights in the war against the marauding Moors. Originally called the settlement Sakariskera, which means the place where the river ends. Then it is through Topónimo, Xacariella and finally to Hacarilla to Jacarilla evoluated village in the Vega Baja, near the ancient Bishop City of Orihuela. Most inhabitants live traditionally the proceeds of surrounding citrus groves.

This typical Spanish village Jacarilla is a pretty inland village with an impressive country palace (currently disused) which dominates its centre. The church is adjacent to the palace and the bars and cafes of the village as well as many small shops, a supermarket and bakeries can be found in the surrounding streets. For a real unique experience there is a Cave Bar with its tranquil garden and is popular for its vast speciality tea menu. This bar is just a 5 minute walk from the property.
